** These tubes are part of a larger cache taken in this month from a tube collector. These have been visually inspected but not tested. They are all considered New Old Stock with original box although we cannot be certain that our entire supply is in fact new. Because of this all will be sold as is. **
The part number is 12AU7 / ECC82
The most popular, small double triode is undoubtedly the 6SN7. The 12AU7 is more or less the miniature version of it. There are some small differences, but most of the tube data is close.
So, logically the 12AU7 / ECC82 was the tube of choice for many applications. Also there were many special versions made, like some with lower grid capacitance, called 5814 or a long life version called 6189W, and some others. Since most of the people don't understand what pearls these are, they tend to pay higher prices for low quality JJ Tubes than for 6189W or 5914. An interesting member of the 12AU7 family is the 5963.
When reading the data sheet, first thing you see is: it is made for digital circuits. Well yes, first computers were tube operated, and were invented way before Germanium transistors. It would be a mistake to think they can not be used for HiFi. Let's just see here what is in the data sheets.
Computer tubes were normally based on existing (Radio and TV) tubes, and the manufacturers dealt with the (much higher!) requirements for computer service.
These Tubes have been found to be very popular among Fender Amplifier fans. The smooth output and controlled heating component is loved by "clean" players. This tube has many different applications for a vast amount of tube powered items.
Silk screened on this tubes in yellow is the Westington name and logo as well as made in USA.
